My Work
A few examples of outcomes from recent roles.
Situation. The company needed one learning platform to replace several separate tools. I led a small team to build it, with only one engineer on staff.
What I did. Our vendor's co-owner pushed back on open-sourcing the project, worried it would hurt their business. I listened to the concern, then showed that open-sourcing would likely bring in more community-built work, not less.
Result. The vendor agreed. The platform launched as open source, won a Best Totara Project award in 2019, and saved over $1M across five years versus an off-the-shelf tool.
Situation. The company had three separate video contracts with the same vendor, each paying for capacity it didn't fully use.
What I did. I built the case for one shared contract, aligned the three internal teams first, then led the negotiation with the vendor directly.
Result. Combined annual spend dropped from $170K to under $130K, a 24% cut, with no loss of capability for any team.
Situation. After a leadership change, I was asked to help reimagine how the company approached learning, with no existing playbook to follow.
What I did. I led the design of a company-wide skills strategy: a shared skills language and a framework for identifying, building, and validating skills, rolled out through pilots rather than one big launch.
Result. The framework gave L&D a clearer, more credible voice with the business, and became the foundation for the company's public "Skills First" strategy.
Situation. I joined the team right after a reorganization, when it had no established structure or leadership routines.
What I did. I put basic workflows and leadership routines in place to stabilize the team, while co-building a generative AI training program for six different brands at once.
Result. The program drew nearly 8,000 views and over 2,100 registrations, with about 90% satisfaction, and trained 400+ employees as AI Influencers to keep adoption going.
Situation. I managed a $20M budget supporting 350,000+ employees, much of it going to a fragmented set of legacy learning tools, including one system costing millions a year to maintain.
What I did. I built the case to consolidate that spend, retired the old system, and redirected the savings into building a new learning platform.
Result. Delivered a modern, unified learning platform for 350,000+ employees, funded entirely by savings rather than new budget.
Situation. The company had no dedicated network supporting Asian employees, despite a growing and diverse workforce.
What I did. I co-founded the community from nothing, with no existing budget or precedent, and connected it to the company's broader engagement and development programs.
Result. Engagement scores rose, and the community became a lasting structure for representation that outlasted my own role changes.
A few sentences on the capability gap is enough to know whether there's a fit.
